Burnsides’s Bridge, Antietam Creek

This bridge is one of the most recognizable battlefield structures of the American Civil War.  I wanted to do a little something different with it and a number of years ago photographed it through a pinhole. This is fun photography!

Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah, GA, Infrared Photos

Bonaventure Cemetery is probably the most famous cemetery in Savannah. This cemetery was featured in the book and movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It is a great setting for taking photographs and in this case I used a digital infrared camera. This series, I converted to black and white, but I have also posted a version with the color cast straight from the camera at: http://johnvanhornphoto.blogspot.com/

Annapolis, Maryland, Skipjacks in this Chesapeake Harbor

These photos of Annapolis, Maryland from the 1930s show the classic skipjack oyster fleet. The dome of the Maryland State Capital Building and the United States Navel Academy can be seen in the background of some of the photos. The photos were taken by F. Slade Dale on one of his Emma C. Berry cruises. The Berry is now moored at the Mystic Seaport Museum located in Mystic, Connecticut.
