I took a walk around the old Scranton Lace Company complex yesterday and took some photos, which I would like to share.
Box Camera Photo – Steamtown Historic Site
Most of the Box Camera photos I have been posting on various sites are light challenged or double – multiple exposures. Here is a regular photograph, did a little extra contrast in computer, but does show capability of the Box Camera as snapshot sort of mechanism.
Steamtown Box Camera Multiple Exposure
I just modified an old Kodak No. 2C Brownie to use 120 film, originally it took 130 film. Also cleaned the camera up a bit and did a minor repair or two, but not bad given that it is between 80 and 100 years old. Took it off to Steamtown yesterday and took a roll of pictures, in this case four. I have attached a multiple exposure I took of Engine 664 while on the turntable. This composition is totally done in the camera with contrast, dodging and burning done in digital processing after the negative was scanned.

I have been playing with old box cameras. This is an example of the results, a little tuning up with Lightroom, but otherwise, it is just film…
Historic Structure Being Demolished
I have photographed this great old structure while it is being torn down on four occasions so far, and because of heightened security at the site, I may not be able to continue this study. I will post additional images and disclose the site when it is totally demolished.
The Englishtown Auction – Circa 1972
The Englishtown Auction is a fantastic flea market with a long history! I have put together a slide show of some photographs I took there around 1972.
